This week on ABDC the crews will compete against each other in two challenges: the Decade of Dance challenge, in which the crews will dance to a master mix of five songs from the past five decades, and the Last Chance Challenge. This is the first time in ABDC history that each of the top 3 crews have been in the bottom 2 at least once.It also marks the 4 time that the crew that was in the bottom two the week before went home the week after.

The episode will be aired on September 13 as part of the VMA lineup. The episode will air at 7PM/6C, 1 hour before the VMA preshow. The final four crews will have to pay homage to the most memorable VMA performances of all time. The four crews will perform together in an opening number to “Smooth Criminal” by Michael Jackson.

In order to learn the complex Indian-themed dance style, the crews are meeting with renowned Bollywood choreographer Nakul Dev Mahajan.The episode was marked by controversy when Lil Mama’s critique to Leiomy Maldonado of Vogue Evolution was regarded as defamatory by many in the gay and transgender community.Lil Mama issued a formal apology for her comments in a statement to GLAAD.

On September 27, 2009, We Are Heroes made history as the first all-female crew to be crowned the winner of America’s Best Dance Crew Season 4, while Afroboriké were declared second place.
