Unity Dance Ensemble was founded in 1994 by Tessandra Chavez. She was 15 years old when she started her dance compan y as a sophomore at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts. Since its inception, Unity has developed into a professional dance company of versatile dancers in which they produce their own season of dance concerts annually to sold out audiences. Unity LA was established in 2005 and consists of professional dancers in the Los Angeles area who have been featured with such artists as Janet Jackson, Avril Lavigne, Lady Gaga, Marques Houston, Gwen Stefani, Ciara, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Toni Braxton, Celine Dion, Omarion, Brandy, Britney Spears, and many more. Unity is known for their high caliber and breath taking performances that cross typical boundaries moving you to the edge of your seat. Tonight they will do something that has never been done in a hip hop dance competition venue. They will deliver a single song performance conceived by mastermind, Tessandra Chavez. This piece is an emotional story about the reality of a relationship. Be ready to feel all the passion and conviction that you would feel from a Mia Michaels piece in this contemporary hip hop based story.
